Remember when I posted about my Boys Adventure Room and I mentioned that if I had a decorating idea that I implemented you would for sure hear about it?
Well here it goes!
We have this little nook in our hallway that has evolved into several different things in the few years we’ve lived here. Once it was a computer desk area. Then it morphed into a school table area/play dough/ mess center.
Then it changed again to house a piano (that no one plays).
The wall has been blank, had bulletin boards, has been full of alphabet charts, number charts, calendars and so on.
Well, it changed again this past week to house all my kids featured artwork and crafts.
Before, I had papers all over my refrigerator, all over a bulletin board in my kitchen, all over the house, and everywhere! Because of course every picture drawn is a treasured piece of art for a kiddo.
But after we hung this on the wall, it looks so much neater and organized.
I just grabbed some cheap 1×4 pine boards and stained them with a dark walnut stain (to match our floors) and then mounted them to the wall.
I added mirror wire and bought some tiny clothespins to display all the works of art and then an ever changing canvas of everyday pictures of the kiddos. This is my view from the kitchen, so as I’m cooking and glance over and see masterpieces and photos of my favorite people— it makes me happy.
So now the kids have to pick and choose what art to keep! Everything else I make them give to others to keep my clutter down! hahahahaha!
The Blessed sign above the wood comes from none other than Hobby Lobby of course.
So viola! A decorating idea from a NON-DECORATOR.
(Oh and if you look closely, you will spot the lupines on the art board from THIS POST)
