My daughter loves Fancy Nancy books, and I’m not going to lie. I kinda do too! I love her imagination, vocabulary, and just all around being a kid. It cracks me up after we read Fancy Nancy books how my daughter talks and plays. I recommend these if you have a little girl!
So for Valentine’s day this year she wanted to give her friends Fancy Pens like Fancy Nancy uses. (I even put a Fancy Pen in her stocking this year).
Fancy Nancy Pencil Valentine’s
Here is what we came up with all from stuff we had around the house! Yay!
We already had a craft box that Nana keeps us supplied with filled with stickers, ribbons, pencils, and hot glue.
(After this project I had to drop a hint to Nana that we are running out of supplies! (I love you Mom! Thanks for all you do!)
We just pinched the tulle together and hot glued it to the tip of the pencil.
Then, tie a ribbon around the tulle so you can’t see where you glued it on.
Next we added embellishments. I let her pick what she glued on to the tulle.
It didn’t take much time at all. I went on to PicMonkey and created a little printable for us to attach to her pencils.
Feel free to use it if you want to make some Fancy Nancy Valentine’s as well! (Printable at bottom of post)
Valentine’s with Kids
These were a success. We didn’t go out and spend a ton of money on them, we used everything we already had. I got to spend an evening hanging out with my daughter talking about “Fancy” things while making “Fancy” Valentine’s and eating “Fancy” cookies that we had made.
I know that sometimes making all this stuff can seem frivolous and unnecessary, but I don’t see it that way. I see it as just another way to spend time with my kids, invest in them, pour into their hearts, and make memories together.
All she kept saying was:
“I love this mom.”
“This is fun.”
“I love hanging out with you and making stuff.”
“Mom, you’re the best ever and ever.”
I’ll take that anyday. She thinks we are just making Valentine’s for her friends. But really we are tying heart strings together that will last a lifetime.
Fancy Nancy Printable FREE
Here is the printable I made for you.
You can just save it and print it out in Word or you can put it back in Pic Monkey and add the “From:___” section to match your child.
I printed mine using my photo software so that I could print it out as 2 5×7’s and get 12 Valentine’s to a page. We printed a few out on a full page that only fit 6 to a page. I personally like the smaller ones better! They were much cuter and less ink! We used some large ones and some small ones just mixing it up.
I’ve attached both to show you what I mean. If you do use this printable LEAVE A COMMENT letting me know! If you use it and blog about it please just link back to this blog for the printable. Thank You!
