School is back in session for everyone. It is stressful to get the school year started again and one way to boost moral is with treats from McDonald’s that include Mocha Frappes and Pies.
I have to say, I was dreading going back to school. It’s not that I don’t love teaching my kids, its just that I love summer SO MUCH! Summer is full of homemade ice cream, staying up late, going swimming, drinking coffee in the mornings slow and steady with no rush, and just a slower pace of life with crazy summer schedules and activities.(oxymoron I know)
My husband is a public school teacher so the start of the school year is a big transition for both of us. He goes from hanging out with family and working on my hunny-do list for several weeks to teaching a hundred kids in four different subjects during the day. I go from the slower days of summer to teaching, planning, and organizing for 23 different subjects /lessons scattered among three different grades and then throw in nursery duty for our baby. It always takes us a couple of weeks after school starts back to get our routine back together and for the crazy to settle down.
But one of the things I’ve learned in life, is that if you ever start to feel overwhelmed or stressed, one of the best things you can do is serve someone else. Quit thinking about yourself and your “to do” list and how overwhelmed or stressed you are, and start thinking of someone else and how you can do something nice to bless them. It will make you feel better and then you can concentrate on getting your stuff in order with a renewed perspective and more joyful attitude.
Coffee Bar for Teachers
That is exactly what I decided to do at the start of the school year.
As I talked with Sam and helped him get his classroom ready for the year, I also talked to several of my public school teacher friends and everyone’s attitudes were the same. They were stressed and anxious about getting everything done and ready for the school year to start. It’s always overwhelming to get organized and start again.
I also chatted with all my homeschool mom friends and we were all feeling the pressure too. It is a joy to teach our kids, but it also takes a lot of work and organization each week to keep the ship sailing smoothly. Organizing curriculum, making schedules, chore charts, and everything that goes into it can be a bit overwhelming when you sit down to get ready for your school year.
I wanted to bless all involved and send some encouragement to both sets of teachers, the public school group and my homeschool homies.
I don’t know about you, but when someone goes out of their way to send me a little encouragement it is an automatic day booster!
I decided to set up a cute McDonald’s coffee bar with some encouraging signs at both places. Everyone loves free stuff right???
This was going to be an easy task because I LOVE doing this sort of thing. I got my kids on board to help and we set up to surprise the teachers with a McDonald’s Frappe and Apple Pie bar. It was a hit!
During one of the breaks, I had the secretary call over the intercom that there was a surprise for teachers set up in the work room.
It is always nice to feel appreciated and doted on with a treat.
Some of them had never had a Mocha Frappe from McDonald’s and I know I made some converts that day.
Homeschool Moms Love Treats Too!
After doing this at the public school, I set up at our Veritas homeschool co-op to do the same thing for all the homeschool moms.
When we got their that morning, I ran in to get everything set up for them.
I did pretty much the same thing for my homeschool moms except that I added a bonus Happy Bag to the mix. I love buying gifts for people and usually have some stashed away in my closet to be able to give an impromptu little “happy” to a friend.
I wanted to give a fun door prize to my homeschool mom friends because I started thinking that as homeschool moms we never get the cool, pinterest-y , catchy little back to school gifts, Christmas gifts, or end of school year “teacher” gifts that the moms put together to give to their kids teacher as a Thank You. It would be just weird for us to make a Pinterest gift for ourselves. haha!
So I wanted to make sure one of the co-op moms went home with a door prize. Plus door prizes are always fun! I have them at any gathering I host!
So not only did everyone get free McDonald’s Frappes and McDonald’s Apple Pies, but also a chance to win a prize.
If you want to boost an atmosphere in your work place– bring McDonald’s Frappes and give your co-workers free treats and make them feel appreciated. It is always a morale booster. Talk your boss into it today!
Oh and a fun little fact.
My friend Krista won the door prize! We are homeschool moms together now, but when we first met we were both public school teachers at the same school 10 year ago! I asked her if she had a picture of us then, but we didn’t have one together. But here we are now 10 years later with 4 kids each and still teaching, just a lot more subjects to a lot less kids, for a lot less pay. Well, I guess I shouldn’t say a lot less pay. We are just paid in hugs and kisses and messes and laughter rather than money.
Also– Here is a link to a FREE PDF PRINTABLE if you wanted to print these cards to attach to a McDonald’s Coffee or Frappe and give to a teacher. They are formatted for shipping labels. You could print the whole page on a sheet of labels and then have them handy for quick teacher encouraging pick-me-up gifts OR just skip the shipping label part and print it off on card stock and tie it to a coffee.
